How to Download Software with Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 for Windows 95
The following instructions will help you to download software from the Internet with Internet Explorer 4 for Windows 95. After clicking on the software link you wish to download, your current browser will display a box similar to this on your screen:
Next your computer will prompt you for where you would like to save the file. Write down the name of the file and the location you are saving it into; you will need to know this to install the software on your computer. Then click on Save. (It is recommended to save programs in your C:\temp directory to make it easier to find your downloaded files).
After choosing Save you will see a screen similar to the one below; this tells you that your computer is downloading the file. This might take some time, depending on the speed of your modem. While downloading, you will see a blue bar gradually moving upward; this is the indicator telling you how far along your download has progressed.
If the download is successful, you will see something similar to the following dialog box displayed:
When the file is done downloading, you must find the file on your computer (use Windows Explorer ). Double click on the filename after you have found it to begin the installation. Note that the program should install automatically on your computer after double clicking on the filename. You will then just need to follow the prompts from the installation program to continue.
